Elizabeth Decker views herself as shy, totally average, and pretty much insignificant. She’s nothing special, at least not compared to her little sister, Audrey. Elizabeth is content with her plain and lonely future; she’s too insecure to contemplate a relationship thanks to her sister. Audrey is a bombshell and uses this to get what she wants. She’s a girl who will stop at nothing to control anyone and everything around her. She craves power and doesn’t care if she has to hurt Elizabeth to get it.
Nathaniel Morgan has spent his whole life fighting for his twin brother, Nicholas. Somewhere along the way, he lost himself. Now he’s just getting by. He’s devoted to his family, but emotionally detached from the women he burns through like wildfire. He has no plans of getting into something as complicated and committed as a “relationship”.
Nicholas Morgan has placed the new librarian, Miss Elizabeth, on a pedestal and is begging her to meet his twin brother, Nathaniel. Elizabeth and Nathaniel agree to meet, for Nicky. Both are caught off-guard when unexpected sparks fly between them. This was not in their plans. Will Nathaniel and Elizabeth be able to escape a past that still plagues them? Or, will the past, suspicions, and insecurities come between them one too many times?
**This is a contemporary new adult romance. It should only be read by ages 18+ due to adult themes and situations. This is a stand alone book.
Anne: Congratulations on For Nicky hitting the Top #3 of The Best Indie Books of 2014! Tell us a little about your books.
I have six currently published books in my two Torey Hope series. A Torey Hope Novel Series and Torey Hope: The Later Years . All of my books are real-life contemporary romances written for an audience of age 18+ due to mature themes, language, and situations. The first four books in the series focus on four families. The next four books (two currently published) focus on the children of the families in first series all grown up and home from college. All of the books in these series contain subjects that aren’t always touched on in other romance novels.
Here are my books, in order of publication:
Because of Beckett
Christmas in Torey Hope
One reader recently said this about the Torey Hope books:
“They are REAL people, people you laugh with, cry with, are happy for, and devastated by. They experience real life that you can identify with and ultimately you fall in love with them, all of them. You become vested and want more.”
Anne: I love to read books that stick with me long after the last page.
How about food? Do you incorporate tasty foods or cooking in your novels?
A.D. Ellis: All 6 of my currently published stories contain recipes. I love using some of my favorites from my mom’s cooking and baking and sharing them with readers. Plus, I think the recipes make the stories more realistic and fun.
Anne: Being teachers, moms, and authors we are multi-task professionals. What hobbies do you have?
A.D. Ellis: One of my hobbies, other than reading and writing, is thrift store shopping. There are few things in this world that make me as happy as finding a super bargain.
Anne: People often ask me how I cam up with the setting in my books. Tell us a little about Torey Hope.
A.D. Ellis: I honestly don’t even remember how I came up with Torey Hope. I just remember thinking the name flowed nicely and I thought it sounded like a sweet little town. It’s not a real place (that I know of!) and it’s in Illinois. I sometimes wonder, since I’m from Indiana, why I didn’t make Torey Hope be an Indiana town.
Anne: Being a preschool teacher, I have to ask... what is your favorite Children’s Book?
A.D. Ellis: I could never pick just one favorite book from my childhood. But, I have favorite memories of my mother reading to my brother and me. I loved nursery rhymes, picture books, chapter books, but what I loved the most was curling up with my mom and brother and listening to the stories.
A.D. Ellis: 2 lucky people (from visitors commenting on this blog post) will receive their choice of 1 single title from any of my 6 currently published books (sent straight to a kindle.com address.)
Winners will be posted this weekend right here!

4 book Torey Hope Novel Series box set
Decker, Torey Hope: The Later Years
Sawyer, Torey Hope
A.D. Ellis is the author of two contemporary romance series, A Torey Hope Novel Series and Torey Hope: The Later Years. Her 2014 debut novel, For Nicky, was voted #3 of the Top 50 Indie Books of 2014 by ReadFree.ly readers/voters. She is a member of the Romance Writers of America and the Indiana Romance Writers of America.
A.D. was born and raised in a small farming town in southern Indiana. An avid reader from the time she learned to read, A.D. could often be found curled up somewhere with her nose in a book. Most of her friends and family were not such book enthusiasts, so she got used to dealing with snickers and joking comments about her constant reading habits.
A.D. always dreamed of being a teacher. Graduating from Indiana State University in 1999 and earning a Master’s Degree from Indiana Wesleyan in 2003, she met her goal of entering the world of education. A.D. has been teaching in the inner city of Indianapolis, Indiana for 16 years; most of her years of experience have been in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade. A.D. loves teaching fractions, variables, probability, and graphing in Math. She loves almost all aspects of English Language Arts. Figurative language, theme, making predictions, drawing conclusions, inference, context clues, making writing come to life, A.D. loves it all! Her students don’t always share in that enthusiasm.
Ms. Ellis met her husband in college in 1996 and they married in June of 2000. She lives in a south side suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana with her husband, two school-aged children, and a hyperactive Yorkie named Snickers. When she’s not reading or writing with music blaring, she can be found shopping at thrift stores, reading to her children, and sweating at the gym.
A.D. began her writing journey in October 2013; she is grateful for the friends and support she’s found along the way.
