Guess What? A question about Souls Entwined will be asked on Friday, November 6th. I don't know what the question will be since my publisher submitted the information...can't wait to find out!

Gamers, enjoy!
Flower enthusiasts...read on!

I finally did it! With the help of my son and husband, I removed the LAST of the bushes the builders planted in the front of my house 19 years ago.

Seriously...it has been a nasty year after year battle. ME vs. the BUSHES. I love flowers and I despise trimming bushes. The builder/landscaper planted 15 different bushes/fast growing shrubs and not one flower. Grrrrr. Every year I'd clip and trim several times. After a while I used an electric hedge trimmer and whacked them down to stubs....they grew back even fuller and faster.

I don't like killing plants of any kind (other than thistle and poison ivy) but I have better things to do on my weekends than trimming bushes! Every summer I've eliminated (sounds better than kill) one or two and the battle is finally over...

I have eliminated all of the #!$%& Bushes!---no more trimming, clipping and bagging for me! Happy Dance!

I replaced the final two huge, overgrown, evergreen monstrosities with two lovely Knock Out Red Roses. Being quite a bit smaller than the bushes, I found a little empty spot needing color. Time to plant some crocus!

These tiny bulbs will be the first to break ground next spring and splash PURPLE color in my flower beds... unless this guy digs them up!
Picture
Bushes I will eliminate, but not cute critters... no matter how destructive they are.  I deal with this bulb-munching chipmunk by feeding him field corn so he doesn't dig up my bulbs. Chipmunks are fun to watch when they cram as many pieces of corn in their mouths as possible!

Early November is a great time for many states to plant spring bulbs so go out and plant your favorite color!

Hi Anne, I love reading your gardening posts. You should consider collecting them into a small eBook. Joanne :)

Thanks Joanne!
And you should consider assembling a recipe book---my teens gave your banana muffins two thumbs up!

Thanks, Elizabeth! Is it too hot for spring bulbs in Australia? As we prepare for winter, you're basking in the warmth of summer!
