Until then, I will be doing some behind the scenes research on children's picture books during my day job---teaching preschool! What books do young children like? Why? What books do I need in order to teach my classes?
Here are a few books from my October shelves that I grab---tested and approved by teachers and my kiddos.
Apple Trouble follows a little Hedgehog who has various objects stick to her quills. With themes of apples, sharing, and helping friends, Apple Trouble ties in many beginning of the year topics.
No More Water in the Tub has been a favorite of mine for years. I received this book when my own children were young. Every year I read it to my preschool classes and they love it!
Many Halloween characters come to her aide and together they pluck the pumpkin from the vine.
I love the cooperation and awesome pictures in this seasonal book. We discuss what the kids want to be for Halloween after reading this book.
Do you have a favorite children's picture book? Old or new, let me know by leaving a comment.
